Jukka Konttinen

Jukka Konttinen works as professor at the University of Jyväskylä in the Renewable Energy (RE) Programme. Bioenergy and solar energy are the main research areas of the programme. Jukka Konttinen has the degree of Doctor of Science from Åbo Akademi University, Department of Chemical Engineering from year 1998.

In years 1989-2009 Konttinen has worked as consultant, research engineer, research manager and research director in companies Tampella Power Inc., Enviropower Inc. and Carbona Inc. The main tasks have been related with the research, development and commercialization of power plant technologies based on solid fuel gasification (IGCC) and high-temperature gas cleanup. These also include the generation of syngas for biodiesel production (BTL). In 1999-2006 Konttinen has also worked as senior researcher at Åbo Akademi University, Process Chemistry Centre, Combustion and Materials Chemistry Group. His tasks were related with research in reactivity and environmental issues in combustion and gasification processes. Konttinen has also worked as part-time teacher in Tampere University of Technology and TAMK and HAMK Universities of Applied Sciences.
