Ian is the Regional Development Manager with the Western Development Commission, an organisation tasked withfostering growth in the western region of Ireland.His background is in engineering and management within the internationalICTsector, and more recentlywithin the realm of strategic business developmentfor the Public sector.Professional qualifications include an Applied Physics degree from Dublin City University,and a Masters in Business Administration.

Recently Ian hasled the WDC in developing and implementing several innovative growth programmes including Renewable energy,Creative economy, Regional promotion and Innovation ,which has led to the design and commissioning of several noveland practical programmes which seek to significantly grow these sectors.

In this vein Ian led the WDC effort whichin tandem with partners such as Action Renewables (Northern Ireland), ERI (Scotland), Norsjö Municipality (Sweden) and others, successfully secured a €2.8m programme from the Northern Periphery Programme to pilot the commercialisation of renewable bio energy business in the NPP region( called RASLRES). These efforts are forecasted to affect hundreds of renewable energy jobs in the regiongoing forward and the initial pilots have involved over 100 bio businesses.
